Class of 27 Cabinet
President - Ethan Valenzuela
Ethan Valenzuela is in his second year of ASB. He was not only the VP of the Class of 2027 last year but also has additional leadership experience as the VP of the Badminton Club. He has worked on several district-wide initiatives focused on Computer Science, Esports, and Digital Citizenship. He is involved with Downtown Magnets through the Cross-Country and Track teams, as well as many other clubs. Ethan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge. As the current president, Ethan’s role is to foster a culture of unity among the class and prepare it for its academic and social goals. He hopes to support his class in any way possible, and help them prepare them for the future. Go Suns!
Vice-President - Ishtiaq Khan
This is Ishtiaq Khan, the Vice President of the Class of 2027, who aims to assist the class president by upholding the duties and responsibilities if the president is absent or busy with another task. Another example of Ishtiaq demonstrating leadership in organizations at the school of Downtown Magnets includes serving as the president of the school's badminton club and participating in school sports teams such as baseball and cross-country. Now onto his goals, which are about bringing school spirit and a unique identity to Downtown Magnets, and he’ll do it by understanding what the people want and how he and everyone else in the student government bring the event or an activity into our school, depending on the feasibility of our school district policies and the budget.
Secretary - Maya Yescas
This is Maya Yescas’s first year in ASB as the class of 2027 secretary. Two of her goals are to raise as much money as possible for the Class of 2027 and contribute to creating fun events. In her free time, Maya likes to go to concerts, scroll through Pinterest, and hang out with friends. This school year, Maya is the vice president of the Gender Sexualities Alliance club and a member of the Women’s Business Mentorship program.
Treasurer - Brian Ong
Your 2025-26 CO27 Treasurer is Brian Ong. To Brian, Treasurer is a role that continues to work behind the scenes to manage the funds. As the CO27 Treasurer, he wants to be able to connect our DMHS community with our finances, faculty, & friends. He loves being able to talk to others; for him, it’s great. As well as being a part of the DMHS community, he is also a part of the Chinatown Library Teen Council. He serves as a cabinet member at the library, continually attending to connect with the Chinatown community and help connect others to it. Outside of school and helping others, he enjoys board games, video games, & card games.
Historian - Ericka Palma
Ericka Palma is excited to return for her second year on ASB, proudly serving as the Class of 2027 Historian. In her role, Ericka is dedicated to capturing the moments in high school that make it unforgettable through photos, memories, and the meaningful storytelling that the Class of 2027 has to offer. She believes That Junior year will be hectic, but even more memorable, as it’s shared with incredible teachers and the ones we hold close to our hearts. Outside of ASB, Ericka is actively involved in her school community. She is a member of Gardening Club and is currently the Activity Coordinator for UNICEF, where she helps organize events that bring people together for such a wonderful cause. When she is not behind the camera or is planning the next big event, you can find Ericka always listening to music, going to concerts, and spending quality time with friends.
