Here's Information about Teen Activities at LA Central Public Library, Community Service Included as well:

 

Please email [email protected] from your school email address at least one hour before the program to request the link.  Homeschool students, note the program name and “Homeschool” in the email subject line, make sure to include your name and grade level. 

 

Book Club Bonanza: End of Summer Edition
02, 09, 16, 30  Mondays, 4-5 p.m.     Google Meet

August 2:  We will pick a book(s) to read via hoopla. Everyone can pitch titles!


August 9: Mindfulness coloring and guided meditation and vision board crafting.


August 16: Read-alike presentation of the book(s) chosen.


August 30: Book discussion.

 

Online Volunteer Orientation
04 Wednesday, 4-5 p.m.  Zoom
Volunteer at Teen’scape online. Whether you need to earn volunteer hours as a school requirement, or you just want to help your community, you can become a Teen’Scape volunteer.  At least one week before the program, contact [email protected] to request Volunteer Intake Forms that you need to fill out and sign with your parents or guardians, email the completed forms to [email protected], and then we’ll send you a link to our one-hour online volunteer orientation program. 

 

Money 101

05, 12, 26  Thursday, 4-5 p.m.  Google Meet This program is a basic introduction for teens to the big subject called investing.  In one hour, we explore the ideas associated with investing and ask the question: what is life’s biggest idea and how does it impact one’s financial choices?   Game Day! 06, 13, 20, 27 Fridays, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.  Google Meet It's the Teen'Scape Game Day you know and love, but online! Login and catch up with all your Game Day friends. Play online games.   

 

Basics of the College Admission Process
07 Saturday, 1-2:30 p.m.  Zoom
We are hosting Rae Shaw as she presents the basics of the admissions process, tips on writing the college essay, and common application prompts. There will be examples of the right and wrong essays and more!

 

Teen’Scape Tea Time
18, 25 Wednesdays, 3-4 p.m.  Google Meet
Got a gripe you want to vent about? Need to gush about the last episode of Loki? Come to Teen’Scape Tea Time and chat with other teens about anything you want. No flavor of tea is off the menu.

 

Healthy Relationships
23 Monday, 4-5 p.m. Zoom What makes a healthy relationship? Does social media set a good example or are relationships more complicated? In this librarian-supervised 1-hr workshop, Teen’Scape’s summer apprentice will lead a discussion about the difference between healthy and toxic behaviors between friends and partners.

 

Virtual Teen Council
25 Wednesday, 4-5 p.m.    Google Meet
Help us decide which books to collect and programs to offer. This program is mandatory for all Teen’Scape Volunteers.
